Winx Rundown: Intro

Image
Welcome to this "Winx Rundown", a series where I review the episodes of a show that’s about as old as Futari wa(although this one did come to an end in 2019), unfortunately I was unable to get it out on the 20th anniversary of episode 1’s Italian airing. Anyhow this is the second thing tackled by me that’s not from Japan(first was Attack of The Killer Tomatoes in Movie Night’s pilot) Also I know that not all episodes were dubbed, so I’ll have 3 categories 4K!DS, these episodes were the ones that were dubbed by 4K!DS in the 2000s Nickelodeon, these were dubbed during the dub revival by Nickelodeon in the early 2010s Sub only, these are episodes that were never dubbed, and I’m reviewing them in their original Italian with English subs Also when I’m finished with the 2004-2019 run, I’ll then tackle Fate; The Winx Saga. The PANNED reboot that got axed after 3 seasons, which itself will be followed up by 2 posts, "What made it a disaster?" and "What did it do better...

Wanderful Rundown: Potential Mid-seasons

Image
Welcome back to Wanderful rundown, now here I’m talking about potential of a mid-season, but first, a brief history for those who just joined on with Wanderful, from Futari wa to Yes 5 Go Go, if you wanted to add another ‘Cure’, you had a second season with the cast of the prior one, MAX HEART had the same cast as Futari wa, but added a new story and Hikari, and Yes 5 Go Go had the same cast as Yes 5, but a new story, and gave Milk her human form finally and made her ‘cure adjacent’, this changed in 2009’s Fresh, which had a villain(Eas) become a Cure halfway through, and this has been a series staple ever since, only missing out 2012’s Smile(but given that originally there was just 1 cure that season, I get it), so who is our mid-season, due to each set of 2 Cures having their own transformation device, toy leaks aren’t very helpful(I.e. jabbing a pencil into the device to trick it into thinking a gimmick which isn’t out yet is in it), so we have at our point 4 options 1. No mid...

Wanderful rundown: episode 4: Nekoyashiki's Cat and Mayu

Image
Welcome back to Wanderful rundown, with episode 4, "Nekoyashiki's Cat and Mayu" Last week we got the explanation about Niko Garden and Niko fruits, Satoru finding out about Komugi and Iroha as Cures. Then the revelation of a Kiarin Animal After the Toei Animation logo, we get to see Yuki wake Mayu up, showing attention to the pink heart on the back of her head, and about the new Pretty Holic opening, and Mayu’s fears Enter intro After the intro ends and the title card Satoru and Iroha are gathering data on Garugaru before Mey Mey summons the 3 of them where more Kirian animal explanation with a new floating island, which begins the repair process and about finding all 9 of them, and then Iroha says she’s going to go to Pretty Holic, hoping to be the first customer, and Satoru tells Mey Mey about issues with Iroha and Mey May gives him an item, Iroha and Komugi arrive and become the first customer, and Iroha meets Mayu and asks her about Yuki, apparently Mayu found Yuki o...

PRETTYPOWER MOVIE NIGHT: pilot

Image
Welcome to the pilot for a new series I'm calling Prettypower Movie Night, this is part of my attempt to branch out and tackle more than just anime, toku and gaming(although 90% of my posts are PreCure based, huh), anyhow first movie is a movie that was meant as a parody of the incessant 'killer ???' movies that were around in the 1970s the 1978 parody horror movie Attack of the Killer Tomatoes Anyhow the movie opens with talk about The Birds and an ‘incident’ from 1975, with ‘no one is laughing now’ and then it zooms to a home as a generic housewife is doing the dishes and hears a weird noise as a tomato comes out of the drain and rolls towards her, seemingly killing her and then the intro credits play with a perfectly hammy theme with comedic credits, such as one about a furniture store and this space available, letting us in for knowing that we are in for a silly time As then the housewife is found dead as some detectives talk about the corpse and tomato juice on her, ...

Bakuage Sentai BoonBoomger rundown: intro

Image
Hello and welcome to another Rundown series, this time for our upcoming Sentai, Bakuage Sentai BoonBoomger(at least upcoming as of writing this, you might be reading this and we’re already on the 50th anniversary season)  Now my initial feelings are of a series like Go-Onger(my all time favourite Sentai), which might be divisive but i couldn’t care less As for our cast, I have nothing to say on them like I do for PreCure, I expect that they will do a good job but I have no personal thoughts on them As for the changer, I have nothing really to say about it, same with the mecha. But I may try and get the toys and perhaps add another series to this of toku/anime merchandise The costumes… I have a hard time adjusting to them, but I will probably will love them by the end of the series, and when all is said and done, I will end this with talking about how I personally would adapt this series as Power Rangers Anyhow, until next time, this is Cure Ranger, signing off

Wanderful rundown: episode 3: "Don’t say it, it’s Baaaad"

Image
Welcome back to Wanderful Rundown with "Don’t Say It, It’s Baaaad", episode 3 For a recap of last week, after the battle an argument between Komugi and Mey Mey breaks out, later some exposition Iroha then lets the GaruGaru name, and then later Komugi became a Cure and the 2 with the ostrich and Mey Mey enter Niko Garden. Onto the episode After the Toei Animation logo is a brief continuation from the final scene of the last episode, and them entering Niko Garden, Komugi’s reaction and then changing back to her dog form, and Iroha falling in love with Niko Garden, much to Mey Mey’s displeasure, enter OP After the OP ends(I will tell my thoughts on the OP and 1st ED when the full version is released sometime next month) we get the title card. Then we get introduced to Niko fruits, and a bit of comedy involving Komugi’s human form getting used to how to act like a human, and a vague mention of ‘Niko-Sama’ and the origin of Niko Garden, and how it went dark, and Iroha tries to fi...

Wanderful Rundown: Thoughts on Iroha

Image
Welcome to the second thoughts on special, and now we are talking about the Cure who didn’t punch but instead just stretched out her hand and he walked into it(referring to her VA’s role as Anya Forger, in fact Iroha even sounds kinda like Anya), Iroha Inukai Iroha is the daughter of the owners of Friendly Animal Hospital and Salon and Komugi’s owner, she can be a bit on the irresponsible side, often ending up on the ire of Mey Mey, especially when she say she’s going to tell someone about this and keeps suggesting different ones to go to, including Satoru(who I am almost certain is one of our 2 mid seasons), but Iroha also has quite the sense of right and wrong, and hates to see animals in pain In episode 1 Iroha came off as the true lead but in episode 2 that did vanish, and we also see in episode 2 how much Iroha loves animals, finding a stray who she helped nurse back to health, that stray being Cure Wondeful, Komugi Inukai But like with my Komugi thoughts, it’s a bit too earl...

Wanderful rundown: Ep 2: 'Let's All Be Friends, Cure Friendy!'

Image
Welcome back to Wanderful rundown, episode 2: 'Let's All Be Friends, Cure Friendy!' And one thing I forgot to mention last week, I feel like it will take a while for Komugi being a dog-turned Cure set in for many, however as one of my season concepts(a phantom thief season) has the main Cure(Cure Queen) and the main mascot as sisters… Anyhow onto the episode For a recap of last week we got introduced to our main cast and players, saw the first Garugaru be purified and Iroha’s reaction to Komugi’s new form The episode continues with Iroha’s reaction and a full introduction to our mascot who can’t get a word in edgewise until he yells at them, leading into the OP, while on it, Yuki’s human form actually leaked last week, I’ll talk about the leaks later After the intro ends and our title card Mey Mey puts his tie on, introduces himself and drops the exposition of the Niko Garden and that a terrible darkness corrupted everyone into Garugaru, then Komugi winds up Mey Mey even ...

Wanderful Rundown: thoughts on Komugi

Image
Welcome to the first ‘thoughts on’ special. This time we’re talking about the pink of Wanderful, Komugi Inukai Now Komugi is a Papillon, a breed of the Spaniel type of dog, also known as a Continental Toy Spaniel, being the oldest reported breed known. Now it’s not known at this point how long Komugi has been a part of Iroha’s life(or at least not that I can recall) but given her childish behaviour in human form, it doesn’t seem to be very long. Alternatively it could just be her being shocked at her new form For her personality so far, being a dog, she is incredibly loyal to Iroha(and probably the other girls on the team + maybe Satoru and Daifuku if the rumours of them being the mid seasons are correct) with a hint of childishness, but the source is unknown, also underlying a sense of how animals feel, best described in her words to the first Garugaru during what is somewhat of a fight, but not really, as Toei doesn’t want to be seen endorsing animal abuse. Now compared to her M...

Wanderful rundown: Ep.1 'It starts with “Wonderful”'

Image
Welcome to Wanderful rundown, episode 1 Now my guess about Lilian and Nyammy was bang on The episode opens up with the usual location introduction before we get introduced to Komugi and her owner Iroha, then we get Iroha getting ready for school, then the 2 set off, we get further introduction to Animal Town as Iroha greets every animal she sees, with her catchphrase before the op, now I’d seen it a few times before and I still love it, seems to suggest that Komugi will be able to flip-flop between human and Papillon form, it also hides the human form of Yuki(we get her cat form though) After the intro we find out about Iroha’s family owning this animal care place. Iroha forgets the volleyball match, and then Komugi sticks to her skirt, and Komugi refuses to leave without Iroha. Then Iroha’s mother; Yoko has to take a call Then we get something odd, and then a showcase of Komugi’s human form, in a nightmare sequence, she then hears that Iroha is back, so she runs out to meet Iroha...
